Endoribonuclease ZC3H12A, also known as Regnase-1 or MCPIP-1, is a crucial regulator of inflammatory responses and immune homeostasis. This multifunctional protein acts as an endoribonuclease that promotes the decay of specific mRNAs encoding cytokines (such as IL6 and IL12B), cell surface receptors, and transcription factors involved in inflammation and T-cell activation. It plays essential roles in preventing aberrant immune reactions, regulating macrophage polarization, promoting angiogenesis, and controlling microRNA biogenesis through its anti-dicer RNase activity.
