    Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 16 (Siglec-16) is a putative adhesion molecule in humans that facilitates sialic-acid dependent binding to cells, suggesting roles in intercellular recognition and immune modulation. As a single-pass type I membrane protein localized to the cell membrane, it functions at the cell surface to mediate specific molecular interactions critical for cellular communication. This recombinant fragment allows targeted study of its functional domains without membrane-associated complexities.
