蛋白描述
Recombinant Regulator of Chromosome Condensation (RCC1) Fragment (aa 2-421) from Homo sapiens, a stable and soluble protein unit ideal for studying RAN-mediated nuclear import, mitotic spindle assembly, and chromosome condensation dynamics.
RCC1 is a critical guanine-nucleotide exchange factor that promotes the exchange of Ran-bound GDP for GTP, playing a pivotal role in RAN-mediated nuclear import and mitotic processes. It contributes to generating high levels of chromosome-associated GTP-bound RAN, essential for mitotic spindle assembly and proper progression through mitosis. Additionally, RCC1 maintains nuclear Ran-GTP levels to facilitate cargo release from importins after nuclear import and regulates the onset of chromosome condensation during the S phase. The protein binds to nucleosomes and double-stranded DNA and is predominantly localized in the nucleus during interphase, with association to mitotic chromosomes and presence in the cytoplasm, underscoring its multifaceted role in cell cycle r
